Over the years I have learned the language of numbers, in my own life they have told the tale of freedom.
Like many, I started out in the corporate world of 9-5, and felt deeply unfulfilled.
I wanted so much more…
… more freedom with my time.
… more freedom to explore the world.
… more impact with those I was working with.
… more ability to choose WHO I worked with.
I wanted to be able to actually help companies working to make a difference in the world, to have the ability to make an even bigger impact, and I knew this could all be done through numbers.
So after a few years of working in the corporate club of finance, where as a Pakistani woman in that world it was proving more difficult than it should have been to get to where I wanted to go, I decided I could do all the things I wanted, and stepped out on my own.
This journey has been one of joy, growth, tears, and laughter.
It has now led to Financial Alignment being the place where impact driven businesses come to align their numbers with their mission and vision.
Accounting/Finance often tends to be an after thought, yet it touches every aspect of a business. No matter the size or industry; I want to help people see how they can use numbers in a powerful way. One that not only aligns their business goals, but also their financial goals.
It is often not seen as a fun part of business, and it can feel confronting and uncomfortable for many to go through the process of getting their numbers in order. However, I guarantee once this journey is started it can only help you succeed, further than you anticipated.
One of my favourite anecdotes is one from when the first man was being shipped off to the moon: A Janitor in the program was asked what they do. He replied: ‘I am helping bring the first man to the moon.’
In other words, there is no small job for a great purpose. Whether indirectly or directly, we can all contribute and THIS is why I do what I do behind the scenes: To support those front-liners who aim to make this world a better place.
